🎙️ episode #3 a savasana special 🌙

Hello lovely people!

First up, I have two apologies to make…

Number one is that I’m sorry that it’s been SO long since we recorded. This podcast is very much still in existence, we’re just living life in the slow lane around the juggles of…well…life. And we suddenly realised how long it had been!

Secondly, I somehow lost the little adaptor that plugs my snazzy podcast mic into my Mac, and then even more impressively managed to order the wrong type of adapter not once, but twice. What a tit.

I didn’t realise cock up number two until we sat down to record, so apologies that the sound quality on my side isn’t up to usual standard, but hopefully our witty banter is.

Going forwards, we’re also going to trial a new little segment! Paid subscribers…if you pop me an email with any burning question you might have (about anything!), we’ll be picking some to answer in the next episode. If it’s fun, we’ll keep doing it 🥳

This week we’ve taken a slight detour on the random-picking of three posts to unpack, and gone for 3 savasana specific lines of conversation…

Each topic does still relate to specific posts I’ve made about over on Instagram (so we get to chat around the comments as usual), they’re just all under one umbrella theme this week - something we promised in a past episode!

The first post is we chat about is available to everyone, but to unlock the full podcast and other paid posts of mine, join me as a paid subscriber for just £4/mo.

This week, we get stuck right into…

  • the oh-so-triggering topic of students leaving before, or during savasana. We talk about the evolution of our own feelings around this, from our early days of rigid rules to finding a more balanced approach that actually serves our students and our own stress levels. We talk about the difference between savasana feeling like an integrated part of the practice rather than just a sleepy (and selective) little bolt on, and why creating the right environment matters more than enforcing strict rules.

  • [18:56] the nuances of savasana assists (love or loathe them?) including some personal memorable moments where we’ve loved or hated assists. We get into why intentional touch matters so much, clear consent, and why some students might opt out. Plus some thoughts of our own around making assists feel supportive rather than intrusive.

  • [42:00] the things that we don’t hear talked about enough - the topic of using oils and scents in class. From allergies to skincare concerns, we share experiences of our own that have influenced if and how we think about using products on students. We touch on a few better ways to communicate about what we might be using, and as ever, why getting the right kind of permission matters so much.

Happy listening! If you’ve heard a bit or all of it, we would LOVE to know what you think so we’re not just waffling to ourselves 🫶🏻
